Seven Roots Consulting LLC operates the website at sevenrootsconsulting.com and the M&A technology integration playbook tool at sevenrootsconsulting.com/tools/ma-playbook/. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you visit the site or use the playbook tool.
Heartwood, our AI advisory product, operates under its own privacy policy at heartwood.sevenrootsconsulting.com.
02Information we collect
We collect different categories of information depending on how you use the site.
From visitors to the marketing site. We collect standard analytics data through Google Analytics, including pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device type, and referrer.
From users of the M&A playbook tool. We collect the answers you provide in the intake form. These describe your acquisition deal at a general level: industry, company size, integration experience, deal type, timing, compliance factors, and similar fields. The intake does not require your name, email, or any personally identifying information.
From buyers of the paid playbook. When you complete checkout, we receive your email address from Stripe (the same email you provide on the Stripe payment form), the Stripe checkout session identifier, and confirmation of payment status. We do not see, receive, or store your full payment card number, CVV, or expiration date.
From contact form submissions. If you reach out through our contact form or by email, we receive the information you provide directly.
03How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Generate the M&A integration playbook preview and full output tailored to your inputs
- Process your one-time payment for the full playbook
- Send you a transactional email containing the link to your unlocked playbook
- Provide cross-device access to your purchased playbook by storing your intake answers server-side, keyed by your Stripe checkout session identifier
- Measure traffic and improve the site through aggregate analytics
- Respond to your inquiries when you contact us directly
We do not use your intake answers, purchase information, or contact details for marketing, advertising, or any purpose other than operating the service and responding to you.
04Third-party services
The site and playbook tool rely on the following third-party services to operate. Each provider maintains its own privacy and data handling policies.
- Anthropic, for AI-powered playbook generation through the Claude API
- Stripe, Inc., for payment processing
- Resend, for sending the transactional confirmation email after a paid unlock
- Netlify, for site hosting, Edge Functions, and Netlify Blobs storage of intake answers
- Google Analytics, for aggregate site traffic measurement
05Data sent to AI
When you generate either the free preview or the full paid playbook, your intake answers are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to produce the response. Anthropic's data usage policies apply to this data in transit. We encourage you to review Anthropic's privacy policy for details on how they handle API inputs. We do not send your email address or any payment information to Anthropic.
06Payment information
When you purchase a playbook, payment card details are collected and processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe, Inc. We do not see, receive, or store your full payment card number, CVV, or expiration date. What we receive and store is limited to your email address (provided to Stripe at checkout), the Stripe checkout session identifier, and the payment status.
For details on how Stripe handles your payment data, see Stripe's Privacy Policy. Stripe is certified as PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant, the highest level of certification in the payments industry.
Stripe will send you a transactional receipt for your purchase. We will also send a separate transactional email through Resend containing the link to your unlocked playbook. Both are operational, not marketing.
07Data retention
Intake answers submitted to the playbook tool are stored in Netlify Blobs, keyed by the Stripe checkout session identifier, so that you can re-access your purchased playbook from any device. Free-preview intake answers are not stored server-side once the preview is generated.
Stripe retains payment records on its own systems according to its policies. We retain the limited payment metadata described above (email, session identifier, status) for seven (7) years to comply with U.S. tax and financial recordkeeping requirements.
If you would like your intake answers or contact information deleted, email us at playbooks@sevenrootsconsulting.com with your Stripe receipt or other identifying detail and we will remove the data within a reasonable timeframe.
08Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. Your data is shared only with the third-party service providers listed above, solely for the purpose of operating the service. We will not disclose your information to other parties unless required by law.
09Cookies, local storage, and analytics
The marketing site and playbook tool use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure aggregate traffic. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or remarketing pixels.
The playbook tool uses your browser's localStorage to retain your intake answers and your generated playbook between page loads on the same device. Clearing your browser data will remove this local copy. The server-side copy in Netlify Blobs (described in Section 07) is unaffected.
10Security
We do not maintain user accounts or passwords for the playbook tool. Access to a paid playbook is identified by the Stripe checkout session identifier, which is provided to you in the post-purchase email and embedded in the return URL. Anyone who has that link can access the playbook, so treat the email link as you would any sensitive document.
While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
11Children's privacy
The site and playbook tool are not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly remove it.
12Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the site or playbook tool after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
